Whether you are superfluous in english or not, it will not be impressive if you use too common words specially in case of interviews. So you need to improve your 'vocab'. It is common approach that you use ony words, whose meaning you understand. It is what Vocabulary or Vocab is called. You can expand your vocab by following some tips as:
Get a Dictionary:
- Buy a dictionary, such as 'Oxford English Dictionary'.
- Alternatively you can download any freeware for your Laptop or PC.
Make a daily task:
- Make a task of learning 5 words everyday from the dictionary.
- You can choose words in an orderly manner.
- Or the best way is to refer a newspaper like Hindustan Times (HT) or Times of India. Read an article everyday & note words whose meaning you don't understand.
- Now, next task is to make 5 sentences from your selected words with proper grammer & meaning.
- Repeat this as long as you can, coz there are billions & millions of unknown words.
What else you can do?
- Besides writing words in a piece of paper, try practising them orally while talking to your friends.
- Don't try to byheart the words, inderstand their actual meaning.
- Carefully listen to speeches of some well known speakers & note unknown words & find out their meanings.
