Maximizing battery power on android device is not a tedious task to follow it requires basic knowledge of your device and I guess nobody knows more than you know about your phone. Basic principle is to avoid things that are draining up your phone’s battery to maximize battery power, there may be a number of things which you may or may not know. Here in this article I am going to tell you what you should do to maximize battery power on your device.

Find Out Causes of Battery Drainage?

First step to maximize battery power of android device is to find out stuff which are using up your battery the most. There may be a number of things you might or might not be aware of; such as power hogging apps, your screen timeout and brightness etc. You can get a complete overview of this on your phone, as in android it is a built in feature. You view this as “Settings>About>Battery Use”, a full list of all things draining up your battery will now be appeared.

As you can see my device battery is mostly used by android system itself. You can get more details on it by opening it, as I have done in my case of android system. So, you now know what all the stuff is consuming your phone’s battery power, next step would be to avoid all those things found draining your battery power.

Fixing Phone Configurations to Maximize Battery Power:

As you have already figured out what are worst battery hog stuff installed or the hardware configurations that are eating up your device battery, we may move onto next step. There are a number of things that requires special attention in the context of saving battery power, here is list of all which you need to do:

Managing Apps to Maximize Battery Power:

Following are the ways you should use to manage your phone’s application for effectively saving battery power of your device:

Disable Background Apps:

When we talk about applications in an android phone, a majority of them are background apps, such kind of apps are the ones running in background every time and the same are responsible for draining up your battery. Some of such apps are Play Store, Maps, Whatsapp etc There are many ways of getting rid of such apps: One way is to manually kill all apps by going to the ‘Task Manager’ every time you use your device, I guess this is not the convenient option; secondly you can have an app that does the same thing for you, there are many of such apps are available on the android market such as: Greenify, this will keep killing apps that you have blacklisted on it; other option can be Clean Master, this allows you to set a certain threshold space for RAM to be used, if RAM usage is increased beyond it all blacklisted apps will be killed. I guess that’s enough to be fixed for background apps, now moving on to next possible drainage.

Disable Auto-Synchronization for Apps:

This feature is available on all android devices. There are apps such as Gmail, play store, facebook etc that automatically synchronizes itself from the server when it gets an active data connection. This is the most power hogging feature of android, since it has to monitor all the time & hence your device never sleeps, thus draining your battery. You can disable this feature at just a click by going to “Settings>Accounts & Sync”, uncheck ‘Auto-Sync’ option.

Additionally, you can also disable ‘Background Data’, this will not allow background downloads by your browser, but will add saving your battery power.

Uninstall Unnecessary Apps:

You can opt to completely remove apps that are junking your device with unwanted data, this might be helpful if the app is running in background but is of no necessary use. You can uninstall it by going to ‘Task Manager’

Managing Hardware Configuration to Maximize Battery Power:

There are a number of hardware components that are to be taken care of, to save power:

Managing Wireless & Network Connections:

Basically there are three wireless connections namely: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth & of course your network provider. Wi-Fi & Bluetooth are the worst battery hoggers; you need to keep them turned off every time when not used. In case of you network provider, you can’t turn it off anyway but there are some tips that can be taken care of: Firstly, go on airplane mode when you are weak network area, probably the case when you are in train or bus; Secondly, you can opt to set a timer for your phone to switch off during hours you don’t even touch your phone, in case you are at school, college etc or at night; Thirdly, disable your data connection when not use, it drains up your battery heavily; & lastly, there may be other connectivity modules such as GPS, NFC or Wireless Location Data, you require to switch all of these modules off for efficient working of your battery.

Managing Display Settings:

This is a simple thing to manage; you just need to keep your screen brightness & timeout to the least possible value. This you can do by going on to notification menu. For device using AMOLED screen such as Samsung Galaxy series, you need to pay attention on your device wallpaper, as in such AMOLED display light is illuminated by pixels. Thus brighter wallpaper will hog more of battery power as that to a darker theme of wallpaper.

Other Hardwares:

There are a number of sensors that are generally equipped in our smart phones, such as proximity sensor, air gesture control etc disable all such sensors is not used frequently, this might look uncool but saves your battery power to a greater extent. Also you can disable vibration mode & haptic feedback of your device.

What Else You Can do to Maximize Battery Power:

I guess this is enough tips that might have already tuned your device battery. In addition to these tips & tricks you can also use some apps such as Battery Doctor or DU Battery saver, both of these apps are designed based on some of the tricks above, these might be helpful automating some tips.
