How to Install Windows XP Using Pen Drive:
Please keep one thing in your mind that you are going to wash out your entire computer by installing a new operating system. You must have to create a backup of all your necessary data stored in your hard disk, before Installing Windows XP Using Pen Drive. Other programs will be needed to reinstall after the installation complete. The best way to create a bootable flash drive can be by using command prompt. It is found on your start menu (you can search the key as ‘CMD’) as ‘CMD.exe’.
- Firstly, get a ISO image of Windows XP and extract the same in some local drive let it be D drive.
- Now insert your USB drive in the pc.
- Open CMD 'Command prompt' as administrator.
- Type ‘Diskpart‘ Diskpart console will now be opened.
- Now type ‘List Disk’. A list of all available drives will now be displayed including your hard disk too.
- You now need to select a disk; this is done by selecting a number that you will see near the drive. Suppose flash drive is disk one then type ‘Select Disk 1’.
- Once flash drive is selected, type ‘Clean’. Disk will now clean any partition and create a RAW partition.
- Type ‘Create Partition Primary’ to allocate free space to a partition.
- Now type following codes in succession ‘Select Partition One’ then ‘Active’
- Once created partition is activated format it by typing ‘Format fs=FAT’. This will start formatting your pen drive taking 15 to 22 minutes.
- After the cleanup is done keep writing the commands as ’assign’, this will assign a letter to the drive.
- Now close diskpart console by commanding ‘exit’.
- Do not close command prompt now.
- Type the drive letter in which you have extracted windows XP ISO image. For instance its d type D: and press enter.
- As soon as you enter, you will automatically enter d:/winxp (directory where you have extracted the ISO file).
- Type 'CD Boot' and press enter.
- Now type ‘Bootsect.exe/nt60 h:’ where ‘h’ is the drive letter of your flash drive.
You have now successfully made your flash drive bootable, now copy all extracted files to your bootable pen drive and reboot to install Windows XP on your pc.
